We have developed a new hydraulic dead-man safety valve for a customer in the aviation industry, designed to be used in hydraulic wheel changers for aircraft. Similar to a conventional car jack, the wheel changer is used to safely lift individual aircraft wheels. One of the key requirements was to design a release valve that automatically returns to the closed position when the control is released – a safety mechanism based on the dead-man principle.
In contrast to standard market solutions with a spring-loaded push button, a rotary-operated version was required. Our newly developed valve performs this function with dependable and robust performance.
Technical specifications of the dead-man safety valve:
– Maximum operating pressure: >700 bar
– Maximum flow rate: 15 l/min
– Medium: Hydraulic oil based on mineral oil
– Temperature range: -30 °C to +80 °C
Development was carried out entirely in-house – from design and prototype production through to full production.
